The Parable of the Talents…Who Are You?
This piece is dedicated to anyone who is searching for life answers and a way out of “no way” if you will. Dedicated…to anyone that is looking for a miracle and guess what…YOU ARE THE MIRACLE YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING ON!!!
Do you have a talent? Do you know what your talent is? Do you have more than one talent? Do you make a living utilizing your talent or talents? Do you ever take part in an activity or take time out of your week to give attention to your talent? What is a talent? According to the Etymology Dictionary, and by the way etymology is defined as “an explanation of where a word came from; the history of a word; its original meaning.” As I was stating, according to the Etymology Dictionary, talents refer to special natural ability, aptitude, gift committed to one for use and improvement, not something that is supposed to be squandered or not used; “balance” as in something that can help you find balance in this world; “weight” as in something that has very serious value; “sum of money” as in something that you can make money from and sustain yourself in this world.
A word that is closely related to talent as in its synonym is extol. Extol is defined as “to place on high, raise, elevate.” Literally, if you use your talent, respect it, believe in it and place it on high, it can raise your circumstances and elevate your life as long as it is backed by the proper knowing, as in the outcome of using your gift and the proper usage of the gift/talent. The gift… that you were given or received or arranged to have…
Now that I have given a very detailed explanation of the word talent, allow me to examine a story that has been told for thousands of years. The story can be found in a book that has sold millions of copies worldwide and continues to sell. The book is called the Bible. The story in the Bible that I am referring to is known as the Parable of the Talents, which can be found in the book of Matthew 25:14–30. It reads as follows:
For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Now, I will give a very easy to understand explanation of many, not all of the verses of this parable, or this allegorical story that is designed to illustrate or teach some truth, religious principle, or moral lesson.
14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country (The kingdom/heaven dwells within your mind, if you are willing to examine yourself or travel within. Conversely, it is much easier ironically, for your hell to take root in your mind, both based on your choices.), who called his own servants(Your body is your servant, taking commands from your mind.), and delivered unto them his goods( Your spirit, higher self, universe delivered to you “the goods” long before you incarnated as who you are now, by way of talents and everything else that makes you who you are, good or bad, for better or for worse.)
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one (Everyone does not have the same talent, nor the same number of talents, thus people need to stop being jealous of the next man or woman, particularly those who are successful and willingly tapped into their own talent(s), stop hatin.’Stop idolizing and worshiping another human being and saying frivolous things such as “Must be nice,” as if there is no way that you could have the same level of success or good fortune.) to every man according to his several ability;( Again, not everyone has the same talents and talents that we have are a direct match to our abilities. Would you jog in shoes that are too big for you?) and straightway took his journey.
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. (This person used the five talents and via successful application and outcome, received five other talents or opportunities that were prosperous.)
17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. (This person used the two talents and via successful application and outcome, received two other talents or opportunities that were prosperous.)
18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.(This person lacked confidence in his ability. Likely looking at the people with five and two talents and not focusing on his one. Thus, fear set in and instead of using the one talent and allowing it to shine and bring a favorable outcome, chose not to use it at all. The same as putting it into a hole in the Earth. Scared of success, listening to other scared people, punked out by the success of the people with 5 and 2 talents. Convinced himself that it was okay to do nothing. What a punk.)
19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh (Cometh could be compared to what is known in numerology as the pinnacles, which reveal your potential for achievement based on 9-year cycles of your life and major cycles which in numerology reveals the timing of your life, as in what activity you should be doing at a given 28 year period in your life that provides you with a way to live your life to its fullest potential. Another way of looking at the word “cometh” is what goes around comes around. Time to pay the piper.), and reckoneth(settling accounts, and life will collect if you refuse or are scared to use your talent, to the point that the pain of “I wish I would have” will eat at you every time you look in the mirror.) with them.
(More opportunities, a truly complete fulfilled life, without regrets.)
(More opportunities, a truly complete fulfilled life, without regrets.)
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man( Life can be hard and appearance wise, most successful people are hard, ruthless, intimidating , life can be intimidating.), reaping where thou hast not sown(Companies make money off people’s labor. Shred businessmen make money through shoddy deals.), and gathering where thou hast not strawed (People make money off the fear of others and sometimes take advantage of the talent of others.)
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.(I was scared to take a chance, I was scared of failing, I was scared of what my “friends” would say, I was not confident enough to apply for the job, I don’t know what it is like to live in another area, I have lived here all of my life, etc.,etc.,etc.,)
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:(Inner self talk, when you see someone prospering off of an idea that you may have had, yet failed to put into action. Again the fear of using the talent, met with inner self talk, oh there will not be peace.)
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.(You could at least find a way to invest small amounts of money or how about set up an actual checking account and get away from the check cashing place. Perhaps putting a few dollars a month in a savings account.)
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.(If you do not use your talent, its as if it does not exist anymore and needless to say, someone else will be successful doing something that may be very similar to that unused talent of yours. Thus, unused talent is given to someone else.)
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: (Success in the spirit, in the mind leads to more success in the physical. Like attracts like.) but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. (Use it or lose it.)
30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Living life with regrets well into old age and even your last day is awful, because even before you actually die completely, parts of you die every day.)
I want to quote from a masterpiece entitled The Science of Getting Rich written by Wallace D. Wattles. “You are derelict in your duty to yourself, to GOD (Universe/Higher Self/Purpose/Destiny) and humanity; for you can render to GOD and humanity no greater service than to make the most of yourself.”
The world is filled with people who for one reason or another are scarred to make the most of themselves. They would rather get by, work a job just for the money, or worse live on the provision of a minimal level of well-being and social support. Made available for citizens without current means to support basic needs. Otherwise known as taking welfare. If welfare is a temporary setback, then cool, formulate the plan, put it to work and get off of it. If welfare is a permanent decision or lifestyle choice, you may need to read this blog post several times again, until it agitates you to make a change. There are people living broken lives because they will not use their talent(s) or gifts.
So how do you know what your gift is? Some people know their gift and others do not. If you know what your talent/gift is and are not using it…life will deal with you. But, seriously how can someone know without a doubt what their talent is. Unfortunately, the advice from most of the gurus is very bland and very vague. Which is something that I have always taken as a huge disservice to the people who put their time, energy and money into bestselling books, videos, lectures etc. People spend billions of dollars in the “self-help industry” based on quotes that these gurus give such as ,”Your talent is what you love doing the most,” “Your talent is what you would do for free every day, because it brings you that much joy.”
Wow…many people enjoy having SEX and would have it all day, every day if they could. Unfortunately, many people have decided to do just that. Can you say porno or prostitution? Do they really feel that SEX is their gift or talent? Is there any shame associated with following such a “talent?” I mention this because there are many people who will literally take such empty advice and without truly thinking, dive in a “dirty” pool if you will, under the guise of following and using their talent, while doing what they love. Using your talent should never cause you to feel empty, or to become an outcast to your family or even your friends in most cases. Using your talent should never cause you to have regrets.
There are tools that have been made available to us by the All That Is/Universe/GOD that can give anyone a clear indication of what your gifts/talents are and how to use them. These tools can give people clarification on something that they may have already know about themselves, yet were always looking for some type of clear clarification. Those tools are numerology and astrology. Tarot and even palmistry can also be used to find answers.
Ones numerology profile can give information about the career that is suited for you based on your day of birth, yes your birthday. The day number of your birthday alone can open up a new door and direct you towards making changes in life. If you add the numerical numbers of your month of birth + your day of birth + your year of birth and reduced each number in accordance to numerology principles then add them up, you will reveal to yourself what is known as your Life Path Number. The path that YOU chose to take in this life prior to you being created in your mother’s womb. It is the path that will lead to least resistance, comfort, upward mobility and fulfillment. Why? Because the Life Path Number reveals your vocation or spiritual calling ie TALENT…
The Life Path number indicates what gifts you can depend on in this life to assist you in achieving your Destiny. The Destiny number is the number that will tell you what your purpose is and what you must live up to in order to have a complete and fulfilled life, with no regrets. The Destiny number is found by adding up the numerical equivalent of each letter in your first, middle and last name or all of your names if you have more than three names and the reduced answer is your Destiny number. Soul number which is the talent or the gift within, the YOU which you long to express that perhaps you have held within and never told anyone about. It is the responsibility that you have to yourself to do what is truly on your heart to do. The Soul number is found by adding all of the vowels contained in the letters of your first, middle and last names. There you have it, 4 keys to your talent or talents with no filter.
If that is not clear enough for you then you have the money houses and part of fortune in what is known as an astrological natal chart. The 2nd house refers to your own money and possessions, what you value, your hidden talents, sense of self-worth, self-esteem. The 2nd house specifies how you gain and spend your own money your attitude towards wealth and material possessions, and your potential for accumulating it/them. The 6th house refers to daily work, service, and physical ability to work. This includes volunteer labor, civil service work, caretaking, and mundane daily tasks. The 8th house deals with ways one can receive money from others based on the signs and planets in that house or section of the natal chart. The planets and signs in each house indicate what is in store for each individual. Each individual’s natal information is different. Just as everyone’s talent is different in this case your date of birth and time indicate what planets and signs are in each house and it will be specific and unique to you. The 10th house is an indicator of the type of career that is a natural fit for you as well as your life path. Didn’t I mention a Life Path in numerology? There is also the Part of Fortune which can be found in an astrological natal chart. The Part of Fortune in short details your “pot of gold” the talents and life path choices that can lead you literally to fortune. So much information, what a deal and you can get it for free. Two websites that offer FREE natal chart calculations are astro.com and café astrology.com. I am sure there are others however those are the sites I have used.
